The match attracted a significant crowd, featuring notable football figures including Delta State deputy governor Monday Onyeme, NFF president Ibrahim Gusau, and the NNL board’s management team led by chairman George Aluo, along with numerous fans and supporters of both teams.

Warri Wolves displayed outstanding tactical play and maintained greater possession throughout the match, which paid off as Yusuf Lateef netted an early goal in the 9th minute. This initial strike bolstered the Wolves’ confidence, leading to a second goal just 12 minutes later from Igbunu Evwierhurhona, wearing jersey number 31. The team’s dominance continued with Lateef’s assist for a third goal in the 28th minute, bringing the score to 3-0.

However, Wikki Tourists demonstrated resilience and quickly regrouped. Their efforts were rewarded with a consolation goal from Mahmood Aliyu, reducing the deficit to 3-1 by the end of the first half.

As the second half commenced, Wikki Tourists emerged with renewed determination, dominating ball possession. This enhanced performance culminated in a second goal by Wanderson Yakubu in the 59th minute, narrowing the scoreline to 3-2.
