The much-anticipated recruitment portal for Nigeria’s paramilitary agencies was officially opened on Monday, July 14, 2025, but not without a wave of technical glitches, countdown delays, and security concerns.

Initially scheduled to launch on June 26, the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) postponed the opening, citing “adjustments in schedule.” In a statement released in June, the board said, “The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) wishes to notify the general public that its recruitment portal, which was earlier slated to open on Thursday, 26th June, 2025, will now open on Monday, 14th July, 2025.”

Despite the revised date, as of mid-day on Monday, the portal, recruitment.cdcfib.gov.ng, remained inaccessible, showing a countdown with over four hours left to launch, frustrating thousands of eager applicants.

Nigerians took to social media to vent their anger and confusion, with many sharing screenshots and videos of the site’s errors.

@geniushawla wrote, “Una just dey add more hours every minute.”

@felixtraco added, “Like seriously, I was like 12:00, it changes to 1:30, then changes again with additional 5 hours.”

Another user mocked the portal’s apparent instability, “Be like the server na 2GB RAM laptop.”

Beyond timing delays, security concerns became a major talking point. A user, @gbengaguwa, raised a red flag on the website’s vulnerability, calling on the Minister of Interior, Bunmi Tunji-Ojo, for swift action.

“ATTENTION HM @BTOofficial, This is to inform you that this recruitment.cdcfib.gov.ng IS NOT A SECURE site… This is in contrast to your main site cdcfib.gov.ng, which IS A SECURE site… Your immediate and quick intervention is required Honourable Minister, in order to avoid innocent applicants falling victim to hackers and scammers.”

Others echoed frustration over the inaccessibility, “You are live but your website is not accessible,” wrote @nnewi300.

“Was following countdown… and boom, it stop and didn’t open again,” said @theodora05760.

LEADERSHIP reports that the recruitment drive covers four major paramilitary agencies under the CDCFIB. These include Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Fire Service and Nigeria Correctional Service

As of press time on Monday, the portal remained inaccessible for many users, with the CDCFIB yet to issue a fresh statement addressing the technical and security concerns.
