Speaking to New York Times on Monday morning in New York, Edoh described Buhari’s death as a significant loss to the nation.

“It is a solemn moment for our beloved country,” he said, reflecting on Buhari’s leadership and national service.

Buhari, who governed Nigeria from 2015 to 2023, was known for his anti-corruption drive, security reforms, and economic strategies.

Edoh said many young Nigerians viewed Buhari as “a figure of hope and potential for a better Nigeria.”

He emphasised unity and resilience in his statement, urging Nigerians to stand together during this difficult period.

“While we mourn President Muhammadu Buhari, we must honour his legacy by continuing the fight for a united Nigeria,” he said.

He also called on the youth to remain active participants in shaping Nigeria’s future, urging them to build on the foundations Buhari laid.

“His administration prioritised youth empowerment and national development,” Edoh added, highlighting Buhari’s National Social Investment Programme.

He said such initiatives should be expanded to further empower young Nigerians and foster innovation.

In his address, Edoh stressed the importance of national solidarity and urged citizens to transcend political and ethnic divides.

“We stand at a crossroads,” he said. “Let us not allow sorrow to divide us, but instead use this moment to work towards peace, unity and progress.”

Edoh concluded his message by praying for the Buhari family and the nation, calling for collective resolve to honour Buhari’s vision.

“It is our turn now to step forward and continue the legacy of service, integrity and commitment to Nigeria,” he said.
