Oyo State Police Command has arrested suspected one-chance robbery gang allegedly terrorising Ibadan residents with their criminal activities.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, CSP Adewale Osifeso, in a statement said while acting on actionable intelligence, the Command successfully dismantled the one-chance robbery gang and apprehended two suspects.

According to Osifeso, the breakthrough followed a viral video that exposed the gang’s illicit activities in the Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

“Following the emergence of a viral video exposing the gang’s activities, the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Police Command, tasked operatives of the Command’s Tactical Units to apprehend the culprits.

“The teams promptly activated their informant networks and launched an intensive search for the gang members. Their efforts paid off on July 12, 2025, when intelligence available to the Command Monitoring Unit revealed the whereabouts of suspected one-chance robbers.

“At around 3:30 pm that day, officers from the Unit tracked and located the suspects on the Old Ibadan/Oyo Road,” Osifeso said.

The PPRO unveiled the suspected criminal gang as a 42-year-old Kolawole Moshood from Olomoyeye Muslim area and his female counterpart identified as Opeyemi Kuburat, 45 years old from Beyerunka area, both in Ibadan.

“During the operation, a Nissan Almera vehicle (Registration Number: Lagos FST 779 DL), which was allegedly used by the suspects in their criminal endeavours was recovered.

“Upon interrogation, the duo confessed to being key members of a one-chance robbery gang operating in Ibadan and its environs. They further admitted to robbing and deceiving multiple victims using the seized vehicle,” he said.

The police spokesperson added that the suspects were in police custody, assisting with the investigation.

Osifeso stressed that three victims have so far come forward and positively identified the suspects as the perpetrators who robbed them of their valuables on separate occasions.

“The investigation is ongoing to identify and apprehend other gang members and recover their weapons,” he said.

He, therefore, urged other victims of the notorious gang to come forward and assist with the investigation and subsequent prosecution.

“Your cooperation can play a vital role in bringing more offenders to justice and protecting our communities,” Osifeso said.
