Publisher of Ovation Magazine and veteran journalist, Dele Momodu, has formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and declared his allegiance to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Momodu’s resignation was conveyed in a letter dated July 17, 2025, and addressed to the Chairman of PDP Ward 4, Ihievbe, in Owan East local government area of Edo State.

The veteran publisher attributed his decision to what he described as the takeover of the PDP by “anti-democratic forces.”

He added that he would now align with a new opposition coalition under the ADC, which aims to unseat President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.

“I wish to inform you of my decision to resign from our political party, PDP, with immediate effect,” the letter read.

“My reason is simple and straightforward. Our party has been unarguably hijacked by antidemocratic forces, from within and outside, in broad daylight.

“It is, therefore, honourable to abandon the carcass of the party to them while the majority of us earnestly sign up with the new coalition party known as the African Democratic Congress (ADC).”
Earlier this month, Momodu openly accused the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, of acting as a mole within the PDP.

Despite being a PDP member, he alleged that Wike secretly worked for the APC during the 2023 presidential election.

“Without any doubt, people are leaving the carcass of PDP to Wike and his cronies, that’s all. It was a prophecy foretold,” he said during an appearance on Channels Television.

“The ruling party does not want competition in 2027, so what they are doing now is to send their moles into any major formidable party,” he added.

Momodu also criticised the Tinubu-led administration, arguing that it had worsened Nigeria’s socioeconomic conditions compared to the previous administration.

“I know you might not be able to answer, but is this the Nigeria of your dreams? Are you better today than you were two years ago? At least when Buhari left, we saw what he left no matter how bad it was, but it is much worse today,” he said.
