To calm growing fears among job seekers, the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has reassured applicants who have completed their application and printed their acknowledgement slips that they have nothing to worry about.

The reassurance followed the board’s decision to temporarily suspend the online recruitment exercise due to persistent technical challenges on its portal. The new commencement date has been shifted to July 21, 2025, for a system upgrade.

In a statement issued at midnight and signed by the Board’s secretary, retired Maj. Gen. Abdulmalik Jubril, the CDCFIB, confirmed that the upgrade is purely technical and will not affect those who have already completed their applications.

LEADERSHIP Friday gathered from a source at the ministry who pleaded anonymity that there was no cause for alarm.

He said, “Applicants who have submitted their applications and printed their acknowledgement slips will not be required to reapply. Their submissions remain valid and are safely stored in the system.”

The board explained that the temporary pause was necessary to improve the portal’s capacity to manage the overwhelming number of applications from eager Nigerians hoping to serve in the Civil Defence, Immigration, Correctional, and Fire Services.

It also acknowledged the high level of enthusiasm shown by Nigerian youths, noting that the system upgrade aims to ensure a fair, efficient, and transparent recruitment process.

The online application was originally scheduled to begin on July 2, but it was postponed to July 14. Due to the portal issues, it is expected to resume on July 21.

The CDCFIB is responsible for recruiting into the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigerian Correctional Service, Federal Fire Service, and Nigeria Immigration Service.

Technical glitches and irregularities have been a recurring challenge in past exercises, further underscoring the need for improved digital infrastructure in public recruitment processes.
