The Federal Ministry of Environment has predicted that about 11 states of the federation are likely to experience floods this month.

The ministry in an early warning circular signed by the director, erosion, flood & coastal zone management department, Usman Abdullahi, gave the prediction through its National Flood Early Warning Center (FEWS Center) in Abuja yesterday.

The ministry which called on relevant stakeholders and state government representatives on its platform to always give situational feedbacks, also drew their attention to taking precautionary measures that can assist in averting or mitigating the impact of flood disasters.

The circular stated that some local government areas in Adamawa, Akwa-Ibom, Borno as well as Bauchi, Plateau, Yobe and Katsina between the 16th and 20th of July are likely to witness heavy rainfall that may lead to flooding.

Other states listed in the circular are, Kano, Jigawa, Cross Rivers and Zamfara States
