The Concerned Citizen Teachers Group in Bauchi State has called on the state commissioner for Rural Development and Special Duties, Hon. Farouk Mustapha, to contest the governorship position of Bauchi State in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking yesterday during a meeting with members of the group from all the 20 local government areas of the state, the group’s chairman, Abubakar Umar, said they observed that Mustapha is the most qualified candidate to succeed Governor Bala Mohammed.
Umar described Mustapha as a loyal and dedicated leader who remained committed to the ideals of development and good governance.
He urged Governor Bala Mohammed to support Farouk Mustapha to clinch the gubernatorial ticket under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), emphasising that Farouk’s experience, integrity, and loyalty make him the ideal successor to consolidate the achievements of the current administration.
“Of all those being considered for the 2027 Bauchi State governorship, none matches Hon. Farouk Mustapha in terms of competence, credibility, and commitment to the people. He also brings valuable experience, having previously contested for the position,” Umar stated.
He noted that Farouk had played a vital role in the last election, where he served as the campaign director for Bala Mohammed in the 2023 general elections.
Umar further added, “We have studied the political terrain and believe Farouk Mustapha is honest, courageous, and deeply connected to the grassroots. He understands the values and dignity of our people.”
The group appealed to Governor Bala Mohammed to support Farouk Mustapha’s ambition, stressing that the commissioner is the most qualified to sustain and expand the developmental strides of the current government.
According to Umar, the Concerned Citizen Teachers Group, which includes teachers, community leaders, parents, and other key stakeholders, is ready to mobilise support and work tirelessly to ensure Farouk Mustapha emerges as governor in 2027.
The group pledged its full commitment to campaigning and canvassing for votes across the state to realise his ambition, “We are hopeful that he will heed our call, and we stand ready to support him all the way,” Umar assured.
