Senior special assistant on Land, Urban, and Regional Planning to the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Michael Chinda, has called for collaboration between the federal government and stakeholders to invest more in education..

Chinda made the appeal at the weekend during the 10th anniversary speech and prize-giving day/graduation of Greater Kpaduma Community School (GKCS) and free will donation for the school’s capital project.

Chinda, who was represented by an Estate Surveyor and Valuer, Chief Afam Charlse, expressed concern that the education system was collapsing and private schools were giving succour to the people.

He congratulated the students and pupils of GKCS on their graduation and urged them to be good ambassadors of the school, noting that they are the future leaders of tomorrow.

He lauded the school’s standard in the Kpaduma community and commended the teachers and parents for inculcating knowledge in the students.

Also, the chairman and proprietor of the school, Mr. Simon Baba Yerima, explained that the school started on September 5, 2015, with about 27 pupils in both Nursery and Primary Schools, but it has recorded growth, with over 250 students in both Nursery, Primary, and J.S.S classes now.

He said they have graduated 500 pupils and students so far, and the school management board has awarded scholarships to about 56 indigent students.

He thanked the teachers, parents and guardians for their support at home to empower their efforts at school.

Also, the traditional ruler of SA-Kpaduma 1, Estu Chief Yusuf Dio, said they were happy and proud of the Chairman of the school for the laudable achievement in the community so far, adding that he defends the people anywhere in FCT.

He urged the students to be of good behaviour in society, noting that education is one of the investments parents need to make in their children and to also pray for them.

The mother of the day, Mrs Grace Ishaya, also said that the importance of education is very important because if the children are not educated, they will be exposed to crime, drug abuse, cultism and other ills in society.

“When the child is educated, they will have the knowledge to know what to do in society and won’t go astray,” she said.
