The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has called on qualified Nigerian legal practitioners with experience in sports law to apply for positions on the list of Pro Bono Counsel and Disciplinary and Ethics Prosecutors of FIFA.
The call follows two circulars issued by FIFA to its member associations, inviting applications and renewals for the positions ahead of the publication of the new lists on 1 January 2027.
Interested applicants are required to submit their applications through the designated FIFA application portal on or before 30 October 2026.
FIFA introduced the Pro Bono Counsel initiative in 2019 to provide legal assistance to individuals within the football community who lack the financial means to defend themselves in proceedings before its judicial bodies.
The initiative is designed to safeguard the rights of individuals who cannot afford legal representation in cases handled by FIFA’s judicial institutions.
Disciplinary and Ethics Prosecutors, on the other hand, are individuals with knowledge of sports law selected by the secretariat of FIFA’s judicial bodies to assist in investigating potential breaches of FIFA regulations.
In its appeal, the NFF urged eligible Nigerian lawyers with the requisite qualifications and proven experience in sports law to take advantage of the opportunity to contribute to the administration of justice and the enforcement of football regulations at the international level.
The federation also advised interested applicants to contact its secretariat for further guidance on the application process.
Qualified legal practitioners can submit their applications through the FIFA recruitment portal: FIFA Application Portal
Application deadline: 30 October 2026.
