Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has restated the commitment of his administration to continue to provide basic school infrastructure and develop the education sector of the state.
The governor identified funding as a major impediment for the smooth running of Nigerian universities, a reason why he said his government is supporting medical education within the state.

The governor spoke in Ilorin when he received a delegation of the Ansar-ud-Deen Society of Nigeria led by the national president Prince Mosediq Adeniji-Kazeem (SAN) on a courtesy visit to the Ahmadu Bello House, Ilorin.

“In Kwara state, we have about 8 private universities. We are also upgrading medical schools in those universities. When we came in, there was only one medical school, which is University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital. We now have Kwara State University Teaching Hospital located at General Hospital, Ilorin.

“Al-Hikmah University also now has Sobi Specialist Hospital. General Hospital in Omu Aran has been linked to Thomas Adewumi University. Similarly, a university has written to us that they want to take over the General Hospital in Offa. So, we are supporting them with teaching hospitals and it is a deliberate action to train more medical personnel,” he said.

AbdulRazaq commended the leadership of Ansar-ud-Deen Society of Nigeria for championing the cause of educational growth and religious harmony in the country.

He congratulated the national president of the association, Prince Mosediq Kazeem on his new task and wished him a successful tenure.

He said the government will look into the construction of an intra-campus road and other requests in favour of the Summit University, Offa – one of the educational institutions of the association.
Prince Kazeem, for his part, said their visit was both for missionary and educational development purposes, appreciating the Governor’s support for the group.

“Ansar-u-deen’s educational legacy has created so many great people over time. It continues to play a very strong role whether at the primary, secondary or tertiary levels in supporting what the government is doing,” he said.

“Without that function of such an important organization there will be a gap. That is what we are trying to fill and that is also why we are here today, considering the fact that Ansar-u-deen is very strong in Kwara state”.

He specifically thanked AbdulRazaq for donating a building for the Faculty of Health Sciences at the Summit University.

“The university has been growing in lips and bounds, thereby contributing significantly to the intellectual development of the young generation”, he said.

He requested the government to fix the road within the Summit campus among other demands.
Kazeem also shared his view on why people of proven integrity should participate in politics, alluding to the virtues and recorded achievements of Governor AbdulRazaq.

Prominent members of the delegation included the deputy president of the society, Dr. Ibrahim Yusuf, national missioner, Sheikh AbdulRahman Ahmad, national secretary, Alh Rahmon Salaudeen; and Alh Najim Usman Yasin among others.
