Dr. Orhii also declared his decision to join the opposition coalition party, the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

He was a governorship aspirant on the PDP platform in Benue State in the 2019 and 2023 general elections.

In a letter addressed to the Chairman of the PDP, Atirkyese Council Ward in Ushongo local government area of Benue State, Orhii cited extensive consultations with his family, political associates, and supporters across Nigeria and beyond as the basis for his decision.

“After intensive consultations with my family, friends, thousands of my supporters and political associates locally, nationally, and globally, I have decided to resign my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect,” Orhii stated.

He stressed that his move to the ADC was inspired by a desire to join like-minded Nigerians committed to what he described as a ‘rescue mission’ for the country.

“This is to enable me join the coalition of other progressive-minded Nigerians in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on the rescue mission,” he added.

While parting ways with the PDP, Orhii expressed gratitude to the party that offered him the platform to serve Nigeria at the highest level, including his tenure as NAFDAC DG and as a former governorship aspirant in Benue State during the 2019 and 2023 elections.

“I truly remain eternally grateful to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that gave me the opportunity to serve my country Nigeria at the highest level,” he said.
