IAWPA To Launch Africa Food Club In Ethiopia

In a significant development, the International Association of World Peace Advocates (IAWPA) is set to launch the Africa Food Club, first if its kind and a groundbreaking initiative aimed at promoting food sufficiency and sustainability across the continent.

The Declaration of the Africa Food Club, according to Amb. King Eugene Mahlangu, the African President of IAWPA, will be made tomorrow at the Skylight Hotel in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on the sidelines of the 2nd United Nations Food System Summit.

The Africa Food Club’s official launch is scheduled to take place in September 11th, 2025 in Abuja, Nigeria. This initiative is expected to bring together stakeholders from various sectors to address Africa’s pressing food security challenges.

By fostering collaboration and innovation, the Africa Food Club will play a critical role in ensuring that Africa’s food systems are sustainable, and that they benefit the people of Africa.

The Africa Food Club is a direct outcome of the discussions and deliberations at the 2nd United Nations Food System Summit. This summit according to King Mahlangu has provided a platform for global leaders to address pressing issues related to food security, sustainability, and nutrition. The launch of the Africa Food Club is a testament to IAWPA’s commitment to promoting peace, sustainable development, and human well-being in Africa.

Amb. King Eugene Mahlangu listed the benefits of the Africa Food Club to include the following.

Improved Food Security, which promotes sustainable agriculture practices and enhancing food distribution systems, the Africa Food Club will help ensure that more Africans have access to nutritious food.

Sustainable Development. The club will support initiatives that balance economic, social, and environmental sustainability, ensuring that Africa’s food systems contribute to the continent’s overall development.

Innovation and Collaboration which will help to bring together stakeholders from various sectors, the Africa Food Club will facilitate the development and implementation of innovative solutions to Africa’s food security challenges.

With the launch of the Africa Food Club, IAWPA is taking a significant step towards addressing one of Africa’s most pressing challenges.

“We look forward to working with our partners and stakeholders to make a meaningful impact on the continent’s food systems” Amb. King Mahlangu stated in the statement.

In a similar statement, the Spokesperson of the association Amb. Emmanuel Nkweke said all is set to announce tomorrow Tuesday the 29th of July as the flag off of the Food Club, while all arrangements are on top gear to launch it in Nigeria come September.
