Senator Biodun Olujimi, a former Senate Minority Leader and one-time Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, has said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be tough to beat in the 2027 general elections.

She stated this while speaking on Tuesday night on Politics Today, a Channels TV programme.

The newly defected All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain explained that her decision to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was informed by a pragmatic assessment of the current political climate and the policy direction of the Tinubu-led administration.

Olujimi, recently a vocal critic of the APC, said that under Tinubu, there is a new, reformed APC, different from the one she opposed in the past.

“Tinubu will be tough to beat. The man is strategic, committed, and is laying solid groundwork. People may be complaining now, but if this trajectory continues, the outcome in 2027 may surprise many.

“The APC we discussed before is not in power today. Tinubu’s government is pragmatic and resolute, and it makes tough decisions. It is this government that made me join the APC.”

Senator Olujimi described the PDP as a “sinking ship,” adding that she could no longer remain in a party without a clear leadership direction or functional political structure.

“The PDP failed to anchor a coalition properly. The structures are not there. I cannot remain number two and suddenly find myself at five with no working structures across the units and wards. 2027 is around the corner,” she said.

She expressed confidence that President Tinubu, whom she described as a “master of the game,” understands the need to reconnect with the grassroots and will do so soon.
