Yahya’s nomination followed the tenure expiration in June of the outgoing chairman, Barrister Muhuyi Magaji Rimin Gado.

The nomination was contained in a statement by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

Yahya, 47, is a veteran anti-corruption investigator with over 18 years of experience at the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Bayero University Kano and a Master’s in Business Administration, specialising in Entrepreneurship and Venture Creation.

The nominee previously led the ICPC’s General Investigations and Constituency/Executive Projects Tracking Division and was a key member of the anti-graft agency’s Directorate of Operations Task Force.

Yahya is also recognised for his expertise in financial crimes, asset tracing, project monitoring, and staff misconduct investigations.

The nomination is pending confirmation by the Kano State House of Assembly.

The governor also praised the outgoing chairman, Barr. Muhuyi, for his courage and dedication.

“The Government of Kano State remains open and willing to work with Barrister Muhuyi in the future, whenever the opportunity arises,” Governor Yusuf was quoted as saying.
‎
The Governor also approved the appointment of Barrister Hafsat Ada’u Kutama as the new Secretary and Legal Adviser of the PCACC, replacing Barrister Zaharadden Hamisu Kofar Mata, who has been redeployed to the Ministry of Justice.
