President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (NACCIMA), Engr. Jani Ibrahim, has urged Nigerian youth to play leadership roles in the nation’s economic development.
During an interactive session in Abuja with the National Youth Entrepreneurs (NYE) delegation, led by the national coordinator, Dr. Sameera Abdullahi, the NACCIMA chief emphasised the need for youth independence and innovation in shaping Nigeria’s economic future.
“We can’t keep you under our wings forever. Like the Women’s Chamber before you, the youth platform must now evolve into a disciplined, independent engine for national development,” he said.
The session also served as a platform for the newly appointed NYE National Executive Council (2025–2027) to unveil their strategic roadmap and highlight upcoming initiatives to empower young entrepreneurs and foster private sector-led growth.
In her remarks, Dr Abdullahi thanked the NACCIMA president for his unwavering support for youth development, noting that his leadership continues to inspire over 20,000 young entrepreneurs nationwide.
She announced two major youth-focused events scheduled for August. The African Youth Investment Forum (AYIF) will be held on August 31, 2025, at the UNDP Office in Abuja. It will bring together youth leaders across Africa for high-level policy dialogues and investment partnerships.
Also, the International Youth Day 2025 celebration will take place on August 30, 2025, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, themed “Fostering Youth Innovation and Green Skills for Growth and Global Sustainability.” The event will feature exhibitions, panel discussions, and strategic sessions focused on green economy solutions and global collaboration.
Dr Abdullahi stressed that these initiatives are aimed at offering sustainable pathways for youth, reducing reliance on crime or substance abuse, and instead promoting entrepreneurship, innovation, and international engagement.
In his response, Engr. Ibrahim reaffirmed NACCIMA’s full support for NYE programs and pledged continued mentorship and advocacy.
He praised the NYE for “redefining the image of Nigerian youth through innovation, enterprise, and leadership,” and commended the newly inaugurated executive council for their bold vision.
“Youth leadership remains central to Nigeria’s future economic transformation,” he added.
