Kogi Assembly Confirms Jackson, Others As Executives Of Kogi Oil Commission

The Kogi State House of Assembly has screened and confirmed Omonu Jackson James as the pioneer managing director, Kogi State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission.

Other members of the commission screened and confirmed by the House include, Mr. Suleiman Ndalaye, chairman; Kogi former speaker, Prince Mathew Kolawole, executive director -West; Engineer Isah Yakubu Jatto, executive director -Central; Usman Nda Muhammed, executive director -East; Olori Michael, executive director -Central and Suleiman Hameed to serve as the commission’s secretary.

This followed a letter sent to the house by Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo nominating Omonu Jackson James, among others, for screening and confirmation as the Commission’s principal executive.

The speaker, Aliyu Umar Yusuf, who read the communication of the governor at the plenary, said it is the duty of the legislators to confirm any nominee before they can assume duty, if they are found to be qualified.

Hon. Aliyu Umar congratulated the nominees on their appointment and urged them to hit the ground running, drive progress, and ensure the dividends of oil wealth reach the communities and Kogi State in general.

After answering questions from members, at the house committee of the whole, Omonu Jackson James and other executives of the Commission, in a unanimous decision were subsequently confirmed as pioneer executives for the newly created Kogi State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission.

Speaking with assembly correspondents shortly after the lawmakers confirmed him, Omonu Jackson James assured the host communities of the Commission’s commitment to the provision of basic amenities.

He expressed appreciation to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for the trust reposed in them and promised to deliver on a good note.

On his part, the executive director, West, Prince Mathew Kolawole thanked God for the opportunity to be nominated and screened by the House to serve and promised not to disappoint Kogites.

Prince Kolawole, the immediate past speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, promised to bring his wealth of experience to bear in discharge of his duties.

Similarly, the Kogi State House of Assembly has screened and confirmed the nominees of Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC).

The nominees screened by the House are Mamman Nda Eri, Chairman; Labran Yahaya Ayigebe, Member -East; Umar Makun Abdulmalik, Member -West;  Jamiu Abdulkareem, Member-Central; Jimoh Ozigizigi Omeiza, Member-Central; Achema Friday, Member-East; Segun Ogbonika, Member-West and Alhaji Muhammed Usman to serve as Secretary.

The House equally screened and confirmed the nomination of Salihu-Otaru Kehinde Augustine as Director General, Kogi State Bureau of Lands.
