Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the forthcoming 2023 election, Mr. Peter Obi, has promised to rally international support for the victims of flood disaster in Anambra State.
Meanwhile, a former member of the House of Representatives and LP candidate for Ogbaru federal constituency in the general election, Afam Ogene has commenced post-flood sensitisation and rehabilitation programme for victims of flood disaster in Ogbaru federal constituency.
Obi, a former Anambra State governor who visited various Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs’) camps in the state including Anambra -East, Anambra- West and Ogbaru local government areas over the weekend during which he commiserated with them and made undisclosed cash donations to them promised to rally further support from national and international agencies for them.
Obi who was accompanied on the visit by the deputy director general/campaign manager of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign, an indigene of Ogbaru, Mr. Oseloka Obaze; LP candidate for Anambra North Senatorial zone, Dr. Tony Nwoye; LP chairman in Ogbaru local government, Prince Emeka Nwosu; representative of Victor Afam Ogene campaign organisation, Mr. Chinedu Uwolloh; LP candidates for Ogbaru 1 and 2 Anambra state constituency seats, Mr. Bewin Ezenwammadu and Nonso Nwaebili among other, Obi made it clear to the flood victims that his visit was “purely on humanitarian ground and non-political”.
