LP Restates Commitment To Strengthening Nigeria’s Democracy

The Labour Party (LP) yesterday expressed its determination to deepen its commitment to initiatives that strengthen democratic institutions and uphold the tenets of democracy throughout the country.

At an expanded virtual meeting of key stakeholders, the party stated that it was now more poised than ever to promote “internal cohesion, democratic consolidation, and national development.”

The high-stakes meeting was attended by the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi; the Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti; the interim National Chairman, Senator Nenadi Usman; interim National Secretary, Senator Darlington Nwokocha; and its 2023 governorship candidate in Lagos State, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour.

Others present included Mohammed Usman Misau, Deputy National Chairman; Prof. Theophilus Ndubuaku, Deputy National Chairman; Deputy Governor of Abia State, Ikechukwu Emetu; Senator Victor Umeh; Senator Okey Ezea; Maria Labeke, former acting National Chairman.

The critical meeting was also attended by Rotimi Odunaike, interim Chairman of the Labour Party in Lagos State; former president of the NBA, Olumide Akpata; BOT member, PA Lawson Osagie; representatives of the NLC and TUC, among other essential stakeholders.
