Yobe Gov’t Alerts Residents Over Fake Gov Buni’s Facebook Account

The Yobe State Government has cautioned the public over a fake Facebook account claiming to be owned by Governor Mai Mala Buni.

A statement made available to LEADERSHIP in Damaturu by the Director General of Press and Media Affairs to the Governor, Mamman Mohammed, conveyed the warning on Saturday.

The government recalled that a similar account had been refuted years ago, describing the reappearance of such an account as “surprising and misleading.”

It also clarified that Governor Buni does not own the account in question, nor was it linked to his verified official social media handles.

“We are working with cyber security experts to trace and apprehend the person or persons behind the account,” Mohammed said. “The public is strongly advised to disregard the account and its content in totality”.

Mohammed assured that further updates will be communicated to the public as investigations progress.
