ADC Coalition: I Remain Principal Member Of APC, Says Fayemi

Former governor of Ekiti State and prominent All Progressives Congress (APC) leader, Dr Kayode Fayemi, has debunked claims linking him to the newly formed ADC coalition, stressing that he remains a committed and principal member of the APC.

In a statement issued to journalists yesterday in Abuja, the head of Fayemi’s Media Office, Mallam Ahmad Sajoh, responded to a circulating claim allegedly made by former Rivers State governor, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi.

The claim suggested that Amaechi and Fayemi jointly founded the new ADC coalition before broadening its membership base.

However, the Fayemi camp refuted any such involvement, noting that no credible evidence exists to verify Amaechi’s purported statement.

“Despite efforts to verify this statement, which has gained traction on social and digital media, we have found no credible evidence to support it,” Sajoh said.

He warned the public against engaging with what it called a “potentially manufactured controversy,” emphasising that Fayemi’s political allegiance remains unchanged.

“Dr Fayemi remains a committed member and leader of the APC in Ekiti State. At various public forums in Ekiti and nationwide, he has consistently affirmed his dedication to the APC,” the statement read.
Reaffirming his loyalty to the party, Fayemi has also publicly endorsed the re-election bid of Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji for the APC gubernatorial ticket.

The media office clarified that while Fayemi maintains friendships and engages in national conversations across political lines, these should not be misconstrued as defection signals.

“If he were to leave the APC, he would make it public and not require a third party to do so,” Sajoh asserted.

The statement also addressed questions about Fayemi’s perceived reduced visibility in national politics, attributing it to his current engagements as a visiting professor at King’s College London and his leadership of the Amandla Institute. Nonetheless, he has remained active in local Ekiti APC affairs and leadership caucus meetings.

Fayemi’s media office urged the public to be cautious about any reports about his political affiliations, especially those originating solely from social media platforms.
