Bauchi State commissioner for Livestock and Development, Dr. Bala Musa Lukshi, has praised Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed for his exceptional leadership and inclusive governance, which accommodates all citizens regardless of tribal or religious differences.

Speaking to journalists in Bauchi, Dr. Lukshi said the newly created Ministry of Livestock Development, with the governor’s support, is working to meet the people’s yearnings and aspirations.

According to him, one of the ministry’s primary goals is to settle herders in one location to end nomadic movement, and to train them in modern cattle farming techniques using new technologies to improve breeding, milk production, and meat yield.

He explained that under the new system, cattle could give birth twice a year, compared to the traditional method, and that the introduction of the L-PRESS Programme would bring significant improvements in livestock productivity if fully embraced by Fulani herders.

The commissioner emphasised that these innovations will require patience and adaptation, as the government will provide feed and other resources to encourage herders to remain in one place.
On security challenges, Dr. Lukshi noted the importance of fostering peaceful coexistence between farmers and herders.

He urged that disputes be reported through appropriate channels rather than resorting to violence.
