The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has stated that it has completed a significant upgrade of its Diaspora enrolment platform, which aims to enhance service efficiency, security, and user experience for Nigerians abroad seeking to obtain their National Identification Number (NIN).

The commission’s head of Corporate Communications, Dr. Kayode Adegoke, disclosed that the upgraded platform offered a seamless, robust, more secure and effective system for managing NIN enrolment services outside Nigeria.

According to him, the enhancement was necessary to ensure that Nigerians in the Diaspora receive the same level of efficient service delivery as their counterparts at home. “As part of the upgrade, our Diaspora Front-End Partners (FEPs) have been fully onboarded and have undergone intensive training to manage the new system effectively,” Adegoke stated.

Similarly, the commission has mandated all FEPs to obtain and activate their NIN enrollment licenses on the new platform within 48 hours. After that, only compliant partners will be authorised to continue providing enrolment services to Nigerians overseas.

Adegoke further acknowledged potential disruptions during the transition period. He said, “The commission regrets any inconvenience experienced by applicants and has set up a dedicated support team to address related issues”

Also, diaspora applicants encountering challenges are advised to contact the Commission via its website for prompt assistance. Adegoke asserted that, while the upgrade affects Diaspora operations, he confirmed that enrolment activities are continuing without interruption at all NIMC centres across Nigeria. He urged Nigerians to find the nearest centre or visit the Commission’s website.

Additionally, he encouraged residents and Diaspora-based Nigerians to utilise the NIMC Self-Service Modification Portal to update their NIN records when necessary. He added, “NIN holders are also urged to download the NIMC NINAuth App on the iOS App Store or Google Play Store. The app allows users to verify their NIN instantly, manage who accesses their information, and enjoy secure authentication services.”

The commission reaffirmed its commitment to providing reliable and citizen-friendly identity management services, both locally and globally.
