The Vice-Chancellor of Fountain University, Osogbo, Professor Olayinka Ramota Karim, has been honoured with the prestigious Global Golden Award by the International Chartered World Learned Society (ICWLS), a US-based organisation with a global reach.
The award, recognising Prof. Karim as the “Notable and Top Distinguished Female Vice-Chancellor of the 21st Century,” was presented by the First African UNESCO Laureate, Professor Sir Bashiru Aremu, at a ceremony in Osogbo.
Prof. Karim was also conferred a Life Fellowship of the ICWLS for her contributions to Food Science and Public Administration, reflecting her significant impact on global academia.
The presentation included a Global Golden Medal, certificates, and other insignia, acknowledging her “avocation, enthusiasm, and reputation” in advancing knowledge and leadership.
Prof. Aremu, speaking on behalf of the ICWLS World Grand Board, praised Prof. Karim’s diligence and competence, describing her as an inspiration for future generations.
He urged her to continue her efforts in adding value to humanity, highlighting her role as a transformative leader in education.
In her response, Prof. Karim expressed gratitude to the ICWLS and dedicated the honour to Fountain University, where she serves as the first female Vice-Chancellor.
She pledged to leverage her ICWLS membership to enhance the university’s tripartite mission of teaching, research, and community service.
The ICWLS, a pan-disciplinary educational charity, supports scholars worldwide, offering expertise across sciences, humanities, and social sciences.
