The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) resident electoral commissioner (REC) for Lagos State, Prof. Ayobami Salami has charged the residents to take advantage of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR), which commences on August 18, 2025,  to get their permanent voter card (PVC).

Salami, who stated this at a press briefing held at the state office of INEC, warned eligible voters against multiple registration, just as he urged the underage, those less than 18 years of age, not to participate in the registration process.

According to him, the registration process commences with an online registration on Monday, August 18th, which he said could be done from the comfort of one’s home or office. The physical biometric capturing would commence on the 25th of August 2025, by 9 a.m., and end at 3 p.m.

The REC stated that online registration can be done via the commission website and portal: http://www.cvr.inecnigeria.org OR www.cvrinec.gov.ng.

He stated that Nigerians of sound minds, those who have attained 18 years of age within the time frame of the exercise, those willing to replace their damaged or lost PVC, those willing to transfer their voting rights to other polling units, and those willing to update their details due to spelling errors, change of address, omission, or marital status are eligible to register.

Professor Salami said registration would be conducted from Monday to Friday at the 20 constitutionally recognised local government areas and at the state office of INEC.

Therefore, he urged those who want to change their PVC to bring a police report or affidavit to back up their claim before they can be attended to.

Professor Salami, however, warned those who want to do multiple registrations and underage registrations that anybody caught will be prosecuted.
