Operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command have arrested another member of a notorious car theft syndicate and recovered a stolen vehicle on Wednesday.

Police had few days ago arrested three suspects from the gang over links to cases of stolen vehicles, and they were being interrogated at the Command’s headquarters in Uyo, the State capital.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the State, DSP Timfon John explained on Thursday, that the arrest followed a diligent follow-up on intelligence.

“Further to a previous report on August 6, 2025, detailing the arrest of a syndicate, operatives of the Command have continued their efforts to recover more stolen vehicles.

“On August 13, 2025, at 1600 hours, the Police action led to the arrest of Oto-Abasi George Ime, a suspect found in possession of a Toyota Camry with registration number BGM 934 DA.
