They made the commitment during the Annual Dinner and Award Night of the Association, held in Lagos under the theme, “The future of public Schools in Nigerian.”

Professor Eghosa Osaghae, the Director General of the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA), Lagos, decried the current state of public Schools in Nigeria due to gross neglect by the Government, bodies and stakeholders.

He appealed to them to sit up and embark on projects for the instantly revamping of the School’s glory.

“The future of public Schools such as GCUOBA is in your hands. I am very sure that most of you will not proud to take your children to your Alma Mater, rather, you prefer to take them to private school.”

Speaking in the same vein, the President of Government College, Ibadan, GCI, legal luminary and business tycoon, Mr Wale Babalakin, pointed out that public Schools can never improve their standard, because, today’s Government doesn’t have enough resources to develop them.
