In Narayi, there was a low turnout of voters as accreditation and voting began in some polling units around 8:30am, while others started closer to 9am.

Only a few voters were seen on ground in the early hours of the exercise despite the presence of electoral officials and security personnel.

Voting materials were in place when our correspondents visited the units but the atmosphere remained calm as residents trickled in gradually.

Party agents and observers were seen monitoring the process closely.

Meanwhile, stakeholders expressed optimism that more people would come out as the day progressed.

However, our correspondent who visited polling units later at Primary School, Sabon Tasha at the Television area observed that voters were casting their votes and returning home as there were not much voters on the queues.

Business owners also took advantage of the exercise to open shops in Sabon Tasha, Television and Romi markets as residents went about their normal daily businesses without hindrance.

This is despite the restriction imposed by the Kaduna State Police Command on vehicular movement in Chikun and other three other local government areas.

LEADERSHIP reports that there was human and vehicular movement as there was no road block mounted by the security operatives.
