Police in Enugu State have arrested six persons allegedly involved in armed robbery, motorcycle snatching and cult-related activities.
Spokesman of the command, SP Daniel Ndukwe, said the arrests made during multiple operations, led to the recovery of two firearms, seven live rounds of ammunition, a stolen motorcycle and other incriminating exhibits.
Ndukwe added that on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at approximately 10:30 p.m., police operatives attached to the Crack Tactical Squad of the Command, while on routine patrol in the Abakpa area, arrested a male suspect riding a black motorcycle and exhibiting suspicious behaviour.
He stated that the suspect, a 27-year-old Tochukwu Edeh, was searched, leading to the recovery of a locally fabricated pistol loaded with seven rounds of .9mm ammunition, concealed in a black bag in his possession.
“In a separate operation on August 10, 2025, at about 5a.m., operatives of the Command’s Anti-Cultism Squad, acting on the confessions of two notorious suspects already in custody for armed robbery and cultism, arrested three additional male suspects – Odoh Friday (aged 24), Okamkpa Onyeka Chukwu (aged 22), and Uzor Okwudili (aged 23).
“All confessed to being members of the Black Axe confraternity,” he said.
