Consequently, to screen the remaining 12,000 applicants, the governor has ordered that interview should be conducted through Computer Based Test (CBT) to weed out candidate without computer knowledge.

He explained that the CBT selection process became necessary to ensure his administration’s commitment to a merit – based transparent process in the recruitment of the 3,000 workers into the civil service.

Speaking at the August edition of the Monthly Prayer Service (MPS) at the Latter House Chapel, Government House, Uyo, the governor explained that “the screening will be computer – based to ensure a level playing field for every Akwa Ibom youth that applied.”

“I am told that about 15,000 Akwa Ibom youths applied for the civil service Job. 3,000 is what we want to engage. The truth is, it will be a computer-based test. As you finish, the result is coming out for you to see whether you passed it or not. So, don’t bother sending me texts for slots. It is not just possible. For once, we will do this one like that. If you don’t understand computer, you don’t have to bother.

“Let’s give the right people the opportunity to go and do this job. We will take time, engage them to sit on the computer, there will be a test and as they finish and submit, they would receive instant result.

“This is so that we can weed out 12,000; consider 5,000, and begin the oral interview to arrive at the required 3,000. Please don’t be angry with us, that is the approach we will adopt for this process,” he stressed.

The governor urged other indigenes interested in one job or the other to visit the portal, disclosing that “many have secured different kinds of jobs without knowing anyone.”
