President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio has returned to Nigeria after a brief vacation in London, putting to rest widespread speculation regarding his health.

Akpabio arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, at approximately 4a.m. on Monday.

He was warmly received at the Presidential Wing by fellow senators, aides, and supporters from various sectors.

His return comes after his attendance at the Sixth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament held in Geneva from July 29 to 31.

Following the global legislative summit, the Senate President proceeded to London for what his office described as a “short vacation.”

Responding to questions from journalists upon arrival, Senator Akpabio dismissed reports that he had been critically ill and hospitalised in London. “There was never a cause for alarm,” he said, emphasising that his time abroad was solely for rest and official engagement.

He assured Nigerians of a renewed and vigorous legislative session upon the Senate’s resumption. “Nigerians can expect robust legislative engagements focused on development, stability, and effective governance,” Akpabio stated.

He also defended Nigeria’s strong presence at the Geneva conference, saying it reflects the country’s commitment to global parliamentary cooperation.

Akpabio also pledged closer collaboration with the executive and judiciary to deepen democratic governance and deliver tangible results to the people.

He is expected to resume official duties at the National Assembly later this week.
