A group,  Arewa Cohesion for Peace, Unity and Development Initiative has mourned the death of His Royal Highness, Major General Muhammadu Sani Sami (rtd), Sami Gomo II, the emir of Zuru, describing his passing as a painful loss to the North and Nigeria at large.

In a condolence message issued in Kaduna, the group’s director-general, Dr Abdullahi Idris, described the late emir as a man of rare humility, wisdom, and leadership whose life of service touched countless lives.

Idris noted that the revered monarch was among the few northern leaders whose counsel and guidance remained invaluable to the organisation’s quest for peace, unity, and development.

He recalled the emir’s illustrious career in the Nigerian Army, culminating in his service as military governor of Bauchi State. He then ascended the throne of Zuru, where he distinguished himself as a patriot and unifier.

“His patriotism and sense of duty never wavered. Even in retirement, he served his people with dignity and selflessness, leaving behind a legacy of honour,” Dr. Idris said.
