Niger State governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for making resources available to the states to facilitate the growth and development of various economic spheres.

The governor stated this when he received members of the House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee on the Rehabilitation and Operationalisation of Baro Inland Port at the Government House, Minna.

While commending the president’s developmental reform agenda, he said his reforms had brought about many positive changes to the country.

He said the president has made  resources available to the states to facilitate the growth and development of various spheres of the economy, positing that the initiatives are necessary for sustainable growth and improvement of public services

Meanwhile, the governor equally applauded the decision of the House of Representatives, through the speaker, to constitute the Ad Hoc Committee to revitalise the Baro Port, which he described as a Nigerian project.

Bago also revealed that the revitalization of the Baro Inland port has been a long-term dream of his administration since his assumption of office, adding that many studies have been carried out on how to revive it.

He also disclosed that the state government is working closely with the Nigeria Railway Corporation to reactivate the locomotive lines from Baro to Minna that will help in reducing the high volume of traffic on roads.

He said the road to Baro from Katcha is under construction, and the state government is already working with the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy to determine how to complete it.

Bago also advocated the need to work closely with the Lagos State government on how to manage water resources describing the rate of boat mishaps in the state as alarming.

The former deputy speaker, House of Representatives and leader of the delegation, Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase said the visit to the governor is to appreciate his immense support.
