Bauchi State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has held a special reception for journalists who covered its 2025 hajj operations.
Speaking during the reception yesterday, the executive secretary of the board, Imam Abdurrahman Ibrahim Idris, praised the media for their professionalism, dedication, and commitment to educating the public through accurate reportage.
He urged journalists to embrace responsible reporting and avoid misinformation and fosters public confidence.
Abdurrahman also called for stronger media and board collaboration to promote transparency and effective communication.
While appreciating both mainstream and citizen journalists for their contributions during the Hajj exercise, he further commended Governor Bala Mohammed for his consistent support and the board’s dedicated staff.
The director of Hajj Operations, Alhaji Sabiu Barau, described the media as critical partners in progress, stressing that the reception was designed to boost their morale and strengthen cooperation.
Also, the director of education and enlightenment, Alhaji Hashimu Abubakar Sadiq, commended journalists for publicising the Board’s activities, noting that their efforts amount to a religious service deserving divine reward.
Delivering a vote of thanks on behalf of the honourees, Alhaji Bature Malumfashi expressed gratitude for the gesture, describing it as the first of its kind and a significant source of motivation for media professionals covering Hajj activities.
The event climaxed with the presentation of letters of appreciation to journalists in recognition of their contributions.
The ceremony was held at the Bauchi State Pilgrims Welfare Board headquarters.
