Oyo State governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, on Wednesday, visited the Olubadan-designate, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, at the latter’s private residence located at Ondo Street, Bodija, Ibadan, the state capital.
The visit followed the return of Oba Ladoja, who was a former governor of the State, to Ibadan after his formal nomination as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.
Although details of the visit were not immediately known, LEADERSHIP reports that the formal installation of Ladoja as the new Olubadan has been scheduled for September 26, 2025.
This followed the approval of Ladoja’s nomination as the next Olubadan by Governor Makinde, paving the way for the formal coronation ceremony scheduled to hold at the historic Mapo Hall in Ibadan, the state capital.
A state government delegation reportedly met with Oba Ladoja and members of the Olubadan-in-Council at his residence in Bodija on Wednesday to finalise preparations.
However, confirming the development, Chief Adeola Oloko, a media aide to the Olubadan-designate, said, “Oba Ladoja will be enthroned as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland on Friday, 26 September 2025.”
Sources also disclosed that Oba Ladoja had earlier met with the kingmakers on Tuesday at his private residence on Ondo Street, Old Bodija, in Ibadan North local government area of the State.
The meeting, which was held behind closed-doors, lasted nearly two hours and marked his first official engagement with the council since the passing of his predecessor, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin.
Oba Ladoja’s coronation is expected to draw dignitaries from across the country as Ibadan ushers in a new era of traditional leadership.
