A former local government chairman of Okene local government in Kogi state, Alhaji Isa Omolori, has called for a Violence-free amd issue-based campaigns and election ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Omolori, an Octogenarian, called for a peaceful conduct of elections, particularly, the Senate seat of Kogi Central senatorial. District of the state.
He said Nigerians deserve jobs, education, healthcare, roads, agriculture and security.
He said, “I have seen many political seasons, and I have learned that intolerance costs far more than any victory is worth. Insults have never fed a family, built a school or equipped a hospital.
*Our people deserve issue-based politics: jobs, education, healthcare, roads, agriculture and security. Let us answer weak ideas with stronger ones, and criticism with evidence. Development must never be dismissed because it comes from the opposition; whatever advances the welfare of our people deserves support, whoever sponsors it.
“The Kogi Central senatorial election is a test of our political maturity, and it must be violence-free. The Senate seat belongs to the people, not to any individual or faction, and it must be won at the ballot box, not through thuggery, intimidation or the barrel of a gun. Candidates, party leaders and supporters alike must commit to peaceful conduct, and security agencies and electoral officials must act impartially so that every vote is cast freely and counted fairly.
“As 2027 approaches, let us protect the peace, reject violence , it will help us in the re-election of Governor Usman Ododo.
“Those we disagree with today will be our neighbours tomorrow, sharing the same markets, places of worship and challenges. Let us reject abuse, discourage the possession of arms and demand accountability from every aspirant.
“Our greatest victory in 2027 will not be the humiliation of an opponent, but the emergence of a safer, more prosperous and united Kogi Central”.
