Abuja-based real estate developer, Michael Onyeachor, has advocated for more accessible pathways to property ownership for young Nigerians.
Onyeachor, a graduate of Sociology from the University of Ilorin, is the co-founder of Besitz Group, a real estate firm in Abuja.
Onyeachor said the idea was borne out of the need to address the exclusion of younger generations – particularly millennials and Gen Zs – from Nigeria’s high-cost property market.
“Real estate shouldn’t be a privilege; it’s a fundamental right. We’re here to make that right accessible to all,” he said.
According to him, the idea for Besitz Group came from observing the structural barriers preventing young Nigerians from becoming homeowners, including high capital requirements and rigid processes.
While initially focused on providing housing solutions for youths, Onyeachor said the firm has since broadened its target demographic after discovering that housing challenges cut across all age groups and income levels.
“Once we started, we realised the problem was bigger than we thought. Everyone deserves the dignity of having a place they can call their own,” he said.
