Vice President Kashim Shettima has described the Governor of Borno State, Professor Babagana Zulum as a symbol of courage, resilience and transformative leadership as he clocked 56 years on Monday.

In a goodwill message personally signed by him, Shettima noted that Zulum’s style of governance has gone beyond rhetoric to practical impact.

He stressed that his presence in villages, schools, and places of worship has made him a leader who connects directly with his people.

“Prof, your dedication to Borno State is second to none. You are a living witness to the resilience of the villages, responding directly and practically, talking to your people face-to-face in the streets, teaching in schools, engaging in discussions in the mosques,” Shettima wrote.

The VP further noted that Zulum’s tenure has shown that good governance is about results and not just promises. “Through the strength of your vision and action, you have demonstrated that leadership is about improving lives, restoring dignity, and creating opportunities for our youth. You have tackled every challenge with courage,” he added.

While praying for God’s guidance and strength for the Borno State governor, Shettima declared, “Indeed, you have earned your place in history. Keep up the excellent work; we are all proud of what you are doing.”

Zulum, a professor of engineering and former commissioner in the state, was first elected governor of Borno in 2019 and re-elected in 2023.
