Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has commended Dangote Cement Plc for its robust social intervention initiatives, as both institutions reaffirmed their collaboration to enhance security, promote peace, and support economic development across the country.

This partnership aims to safeguard communities, protect critical business operations, and create a secure environment conducive to sustainable growth and investment.

During his visit to the Dangote Cement Plant in Obajana, the assistant inspector-general (AIG) of police in charge of Zone 8, Abubakar Zubairu, emphasised that such collaborations not only strengthen law enforcement efforts but also help establish a stable environment where businesses can thrive and contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s economic development.

Zubairu expressed appreciation for Dangote Cement Plc numerous Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, which are uplifting communities and supporting national development.

He noted that the Nigeria Police Force remains committed to protecting lives and property while ensuring the safety of corporate institutions whose contributions are vital to the nation’s growth and stability.

He said, “I am truly impressed by your Corporate Social Responsibility schemes. I am aware that you have invested billions in CSR. This is commendable.”

He added that the police prioritise the company due to its significant economic contribution.

“Our core responsibility is security, and Dangote Cement is very important. You provide jobs for Nigerians and have shown responsibility and responsiveness to host communities and the nation,” he said.

He further assured: “I want to assure you of our continued support. Your valuable work in creating jobs and implementing CSR programmes contributes to reducing crime in our society.”

Earlier, the Plant Director of Dangote Cement Plc, Nawabuddin Azad, expressed his delight at the visit by the top hierarchy of the Nigeria Police Force and stated the need to strengthen the partnership further.

Azad said, “Your presence here today is not just a routine visit; it is a powerful symbol. It is a symbol of commitment, of partnership, and a reminder that the safety of key national economic assets is a top priority. We do not take this for granted.”

He noted that the company’s mission aligns with the federal government’s — to grow the economy, create jobs for the teeming youth, and contribute to national GDP.

“But let me be very frank — without security, there can be no production. Without production, there can be no prosperity. The wheels of our company turn not just on power and raw materials, but fundamentally on the oil of peace and security,” he said.

Azad, therefore, called for a strengthened partnership in key strategic areas, including intelligence sharing, empowering local police divisions, and fostering greater trust among the police, host communities, and the company.

Also, the general manager of Social Performance, Ademola Adeyemi, noted that the company has always enjoyed a strong partnership with the police, and the visit would further strengthen those ties.

The head of human resources and administration, Azeez Adeniyi, mentioned that most of the company’s employees are from Kogi State and emphasised that the company is committed to maintaining smooth operations.

Officers in the AIG’s entourage included: DCP A. Eljamal, DCP Abubakar B. Ardo, ACP Umar Ibrahim Wurno, CSP Halidu Kasimu, CSP Emmanuel P. Ganya, and CSP Ujah I. Francis, among others.

It will be recalled that in 2018, the Aliko Dangote Foundation (ADF) donated 150 operational vehicles to the Nigeria Police Force at an event in Abuja.

More recently, the company contributed 25 vehicles to the Force, making it one of the largest corporate donors to the Nigeria Police in the nation’s history.
