Unknown gunmen on Monday abducted Oba David Wada, the traditional ruler and district head of Bagaji Odo in Omala local government area of Kogi State.
The monarch who was returning from a traditional council meeting in Abejukolo, headquarters of the Omala LGA was ambushed at Ojuwo Ugweche at gunpoint and subsequently whisked into the bush.
According to the locals, the monarch who was driven by an okada rider ran into an ambush at Ugweche spot, and forcibly commandeered into the bush.
Ojuwo Ugweche is notorious for kidnapping and routinely manned by vigilante and security personnel.
However, there was no security personnel at the scene on the fateful day.
When contacted the paramount ruler of the LGA, the Onu Ife, Boniface Musa, confirmed the incident and appealed to the security agencies to ensure the safe rescue of the traditional ruler.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Command, SP Williams Aya who confirmed the incident, operatives have been mobilised alongside hunters, vigilante and state actors to comb the bush for the release of the abducted monarch.
As at the time of filling this report, his abductors have not initiated communication with the family.
The latest incident comes barely two weeks after gunmen forcefully abducted two clergymen returning from a naming ceremony in Itobe axis of Kogi East.
