In a significant recruitment move, Kelechi Iheanacho, the Nigerian international forward, has officially signed with Scottish football giants Celtic as a free agent. This news comes after the 28-year-old had his contract with Sevilla mutually terminated on transfer deadline day, paving the way for his exciting new chapter in the Scottish Premiership.

Celtic, who proudly hold the title of Scottish champions, were in fierce competition to secure Iheanacho’s signature, with three clubs vying for his services. Ultimately, Celtic emerged victorious, bringing the talented striker to Parkhead on a one-year deal.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers expressed his confidence in Iheanacho’s abilities, having previously worked with the player during their time together at Leicester City.

Rodgers commented, “Kelechi has shown tremendous potential, and I believe he will make a significant contribution to our team this season.” The Nigerian forward replaces Adam Idah, who has recently transitioned to Swansea City for an undisclosed fee.

Iheanacho’s transfer follows a season where he initially joined Sevilla, only to find himself on loan with Middlesbrough in the English Championship during the latter part of the season. With a wealth of experience in both English and European football, Iheanacho is expected to strengthen Celtic’s attacking options as they embark on their campaign this season.
