Bandits reportedly attacked Wakeh village in Kachia local government area of Kaduna state, killing six residents, and nine were injured.

One of the residents of the area who pleaded anonymity explained that the attack occurred in the early hours of Sunday, adding that some of the residents were also kidnapped.

Although Reuben Buhari, former media adviser to Late Kaduna state governor, Patrick Yakowa, who posted on his verified Facebook page, said eight residents were killed. At the same time, nine were injured. “They retired for the night, envisioning their future. Simple rural farmers with humble expectations: rest, arise, attend to their farm, and cherish life’s pleasures.”

“Tragically, while they slept, armed attackers struck, bringing their dreams to an abrupt end. Eight lives were snuffed out; nine were injured. This incident bears an unsettling similarity to previous attacks, and the victims will probably be buried in a mass grave, after which life will proceed until the next attack. May their souls rest in peace,” Buhari wrote.

When contacted, Kaduna State Police Command spokesperson Mansir Hassan said he was unaware of the incident and said, “I will get back to you,” but he had yet to confirm the attack.
