Bauchi State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), CC Tijjani Iliyasu, confirmed the accident in a Road Traffic Crash (RTC) report, saying the accident occurred at about 5:45 p.m.

Iliyasu said FRSC rescue personnel arrived at the scene of the accident about five minutes after it was reported by 6:05 p.m.

He explained that a total of 22 passengers were on board both vehicles, comprising 20 male adults and two female adults.

Three male passengers sustained various degrees of injury, while two others, a female adult and a male child, were confirmed dead.

According to the FRSC, preliminary investigations attributed the crash to over-speeding and a tire burst, which led to a head-on collision.

He listed items recovered from the scene to include a bag of clothes, 40 pieces of cow leg, and a small handbag.
