The Police Service Commission (PSC) has said that it was yet to receive the petition filed by the former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, accusing senior Police officers of the Kaduna State Command of gross misconduct.

Recall that El-Rufai, in a letter dated September 8, 2025, had accused the commissioner of police in Kaduna State of abusing his office.

LEADERSHIP reports that the policemen had earlier tried to stop a meeting of the opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kaduna last week and thereafter watched as thugs attacked and injured the party members.

El-Rufai urged the PSC to immediately launch an impartial investigation into what he described as “unlawful and unconstitutional conduct” by authorities of the Command.

“I am writing as a citizen of Nigeria and former governor of Kaduna State to formally lodge this complaint and demand an immediate, impartial, and exhaustive investigation into the unlawful and unconstitutional conduct of the Commissioner of Police and some officers of the Kaduna State Police Command,” parts of the petition read.

However, when LEADERSHIP asked the PSC spokesman, Ikechukwu Ani, if the Commission had received the petition and what was the next line of action, he said they were yet to see the petition.

In a short reply to our correspondent on Monday night, Ani said: “My boss said he has not seen the petition. Sorry I am responding late.”

It would be recalled that there has been a face-off between El-Rufai and the Kaduna State Police Command since on August 30, 2025, when the former governor and some other opposition politicians were allegedly attacked by suspected political thugs during a meeting in Kaduna.

El-Rufai subsequently accused the police of collusion with the thugs, saying officers were watching while they were being attacked.

Also, the command had invited El-Rufai, alongside six senior members of ADC for questioning over allegations relating to criminal conspiracy, incitement of public disturbance, mischief and causing grievous hurt.
