The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 elections, Peter Obi, has returned to public engagements after a short break on health grounds.

LEADERSHIP reports that Obi had announced over the weekend that he was suspending scheduled activities within and outside the country after falling ill during a tourism event in Enugu.

He disclosed that he received treatment at a hospital and was advised to rest for at least two days.

In a post on X on Monday, the former Anambra State governor confirmed his return with a visit to Maison de Helen (MDH), a luxury fashion brand in Lagos.

“Let me begin by thanking everyone who wished me well during my short time away from engagements on the doctor’s advice,” he wrote.

Obi described MDH as “a living proof of how Nigerian creativity, heritage, and enterprise can resonate on the global stage.”

He praised the dedication of the factory’s workers, saying it demonstrates what is possible when Nigeria shifts from consumption to production through support for small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

“SMEs are the backbone of any economy,” Obi noted, stressing that investing in them could lift millions of Nigerians out of poverty and position Nigeria as a global hub of creativity and trade.
