More than 50 young participants from Suleja have embarked on an exciting journey of learning and innovation by enrolling in this year’s Digital Boot Camp and Exhibition, dubbed D-BEX 2025, organised by the Foundation for Human Capacity Development and Innovation Suleja. The initiative is aimed at empowering youths aged 14 to 26 with vital skills in today’s fast-evolving technological landscape.

D-BEX 2025 camp, which commenced over the weekend, focuses on critical areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Cybersecurity, and Creative Design. The programme is particularly designed for students in transition between primary, secondary, and tertiary education, ensuring they are well-prepared to navigate the challenges of the modern workforce.

During the opening ceremony, Rear Admiral Hamzat Ibrahim, the founder of the foundation, articulated his vision for the project, which he has nurtured since 1998. “Investing in human capacity development is crucial,” he asserted.

“My passion lies in teaching and mentoring young people. This initiative aims to transform the mindset of the youth, offering them hope and a disciplined pathway away from drugs and crime, ultimately reducing youth restiveness in our communities.”

Emphasising the holistic approach of the boot camp, ICT expert Mr. Ademola Odugbesan, who is one of the facilitators, spoke about the programme’s focus beyond mere digital training. “Discipline, integrity, and teamwork are essential components of D-BEX 2025,” he stated. “Participants will be confronted with real-world challenges that will test their abilities and enrich their skills. Our goal is to empower these young minds, equip them with job skills, and guide them in exploring various pathways to success.”

The D-BEX 2025 initiative is structured in two distinct phases: an immersive four-week training period filled with lectures and hands-on practical sessions, followed by a one-week exhibition where participants will showcase their innovative projects developed during the camp.
