About 500 vulnerable Lagos residents in Fagba, a suburban area of Lagos, have benefitted from a free medical mission organised by Selai Gas, an oil and gas firm.

The outreach came at a time national conversations increasingly emphasise the need for Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) to bridge critical gaps in public life.

It also provided much-needed health insights for individuals who may never have had access to such services.

At the event, Selai Gas’ managing director, Damilola Owolabi-Osinusi, said, “Selai Gas was founded on more than the provision of energy. We see ourselves as partners in progress with the communities we serve. This initiative goes beyond business—showing that health, safety, and dignity are as important as our products.”

A welcome Initiative by the Private Sector Participants (PSP) has lauded the programme as both timely and exemplary, noting that it provides a blueprint for how corporations can align their business expertise with community needs.

This was at the company’s latest six-day outreach in Fagba, which underscores how businesses can move beyond commerce to address pressing social challenges head-on.

It’s part of the firm’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative that blends corporate commitment, community focus, and philanthropy.

The initiative demonstrates the private sector’s capacity to fill urgent gaps in public welfare and shows what can be achieved when businesses embrace their role as stakeholders in national development.

According to the firm, the literacy level on health and safety remains low in many suburban communities.
