Niger Gives ICAN N150m For Training School

Niger State governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago has announced a seed donation of N150 million for the construction of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) training centre in the state.

Performing the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Institute’s training centre in Minna pointed out that the training centre, when completed, would benefit existing and potential accountants as well as engender development in the state.

Bago who was delighted that the centre, was named after him and located at the three-arm zone area of Minna, described the event as history-making and an invitation to development,

He also disclosed that 1,000 housing units would be constructed around the training centre to further develop the area.’

The ICAN President, Mallam Haruna Nma Yahaya, said the foundation laying for the project marked  the beginning of planting a seed that would grow into a lasting legacy for the accounting profession, especially in the North Central Zone of the country.

He said the centre was  a special student project for the North Central Zone of the country and that it would serve as a hub for training, research, professional examinations, and mentoring of future accountants, among others.

 

The ICAN President appreciated the governor for his support to the institute, assuring him that his investments in the institute will yield positive results.

 

The Vice President of ICAN, Queensley Sofurati Seghosime who described the governor as visionary, said the training centre would train students that are unable to get admission into tertiary institutions on the accounting technician scheme of West Africa, adding that the certificate is accepted all over Africa.
