The member representing Ohafia South constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Kalu Mba Nwoke, yesterday, said Governor Alex Otti makes his appointments based on merit and capacity.
Nwoke stated this when he spoke with LEADERSHIP Sunday in Umuahia, the state capital, following Otti’s appointment of Peter Ukonu as director-general of the State Technological Skills Acquisition Centre.
He pointed at the governor’s appointment of a non-indigene of the state as the head of service, which he described as uncommon in the country and goes a long way to buttress his assertion.
”I’ve been following his appointments since day one in office and can say without equivocation that he has been picking only the best in line with his vision for the state and this one is not an exception, going by Ukonu’s wealth of experience.”
The legislator, who is the chairman of the House Committee on Environment, New Map, and Urban Renewal, appreciated the governor for the appointment, assuring that, in view of Ukonu’s antecedents, he is confident that he would deliver as expected.
”This constituency shall reciprocate this kind gesture come 2027 by ensuring our total votes for you and candidates for other offices under the same platform with you,” he added.
Congratulating Ukonu for the appointment, the chairman urged him to use the opportunity to bring his wealth of experience in the field of Information Technology to bear.
”There’s no doubt in my mind that you’re going to leverage this position to share your knowledge and experience in the field for the advancement of Abia youth,” he stated.
