Provost of Aminu Saleh College of Education (ASCOE) ,Azare, Prof. Asabe Sadiya Mohammed, has commended Bauchi State governor, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, for his unwavering support to tertiary education in the state, particularly the recent approval granting the college a dual mandate.

The initiative, sanctioned by the federal government, empowers Colleges of Education across Nigeria to simultaneously run degree programmes alongside with the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE).

Speaking with journalists in Bauchi after a meeting between the governor and heads of tertiary institutions in the state, Prof. Sadiya explained that the engagement was aimed at strengthening the government’s commitment to producing quality graduates who will contribute to the state’s rapid development and economic growth.

She stressed that the initiative underscores transparency, accountability, and the sustainability of government programmes.

The provost further revealed that the governor directed all 20 local government chairmen in the state to sponsor students at the college, training them as teachers to boost education development.

Despite resource limitations, she said, the government has continued to meet its obligations, highlighting key interventions approved for the college which include restoring electricity supply, road construction, accreditation funding, renovation of staff quarters, and the employment of 154 part-time staff.

According to her, these approvals reflect the governor’s resolve to implement practical and impactful policies that will transform education and enhance the state’s value.

“I wish to commend the exemplary leadership of His Excellency, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, for his unwavering commitment to transforming tertiary institutions despite numerous challenges.

“His leadership approach, built on continuity, inclusiveness, and peacebuilding, is worthy of emulation. I therefore urge citizens to continue praying for the Governor and for Bauchi State,” she said.
